The new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on May 25th 2018, and completely superseded the UK Data Protection Act. The GDPR is much more demanding than the old UK Act, and carries stringent penalties for non-compliance. There are no exceptions, even for small groups such as ourselves.

To comply with the new legislation we formulated a data protection policy for the society which is here: GDPR-Policy. If you are a member or are thinking of joining, please read it carefully.
In future it will be a condition of joining the Society that new members provide their consent to allow us to process their personal data.
